City of Redemption

City of Redemption

June Ahern is an excellent writer whose books kept me from sleeping until I’d finished them. I loved The Skye in June, invited her to the shoe, and then read City of Redemption and enjoyed it even more. The fascinatingly complex heroines in her novels share a similar background with each other and with the author herself: born in Glasgow, emigrated to San Francisco, lived in “The Castro.” The books and their protagonists are quite different, yet the underlying theme of overcoming the past and dealing with the now permeates each one. Her characters are wonderful and her depiction of the Haight is full of detail. She says she lived through it and remembers it–quite an achievement 😉

Yet, I had reservations, and when I heard Jim discuss the likelihood that Sandy Hook was a staged ‘black op’ just like 9/11 and most other events of national importance. We are under attack by our own government and they are winning.

The News from Mount Liberty was one of the best, and other monologues and assorted bits were very good.
